Unknown gunmen on Monday morning attacked the Lagos resident of renowned journalist, Steve Nwosu, whisking away his wife, Toyin.
The armed gang numbering about seven, three of which scaled the fence of the building located at Ago Palace Way, Okota, Lagos, gained entrance through the parlour window.
They took advantage of the power outage and claimed the transformer stationed in front of the building before scaling the fence.
Afterwards, they reportedly broke the bulb at the corridor, entered the building and turned off the lights, and like people who already knew where to search, headed straight to the rooms, where armed robbers got money last December.
The armed men bundled Nwosu’s kids who were sleeping in the parlour and locked them inside a toilet, raided the house in search of money and other valuables, after which they ordered his wife to dress up and whisked her away in a speedboat through the canal opposite the house.
Although Nwosu had refused to mention the demands made by the criminals, The Nation learnt from a reliable source that the kidnappers have demanded N100 million ransom.
The Nation gathered that the criminals blindfolded Nwosu and wanted to abduct him but changed their minds, told his wife to dress up and took her instead.
Aside Nwosu’s house, the gang also attacked a mansion on the street but did not meet the owner, who was said to have jumped into the next compound upon sighting them.
