Man arraigned for breach of public peace


The police on Wednesday arraigned a 35- year-old man, Fagbenro Folorunsho, in an Osogbo Magistrates’ Court, for alleged conspiracy, breach of public peace and malicious damage.


NAN reports that the prosecutor, Insp. Fagboyinbo Abiodun told the court that the accused committed the offences on Feb. 2, 2014 at about 8p.m. at Agbegban area in Okini.


Abiodun said that the accused conspired with others now at large, to destroy the corner fence of a building owned by one Yekini Oguniyi, which resulted in breach of public peace in the area.


He said that the accused is standing trial on a three- count charge of conspiracy, breach of peace and malicious damage.


Abiodun said the offences contravened Sections 516, 249(d) and 451 of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol. 11, Laws of Osun, 2003.


The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.


The Magistrate, Mrs Fatimo Sodamade, granted the accused bail in the sum of N50, 000 and one surety in like sum.


Sodamade said the surety must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and adjourned the case till Oct. 14 for mention.
